Train fares to rise by average of 2.3%

What could be worse than paying for a service that is failing to deliver? Paying more for it! It was revealed earlier this week that from January 2nd train fares on average will rise by 2.3%- the highest percentage increase since 2011. Passengers who purchase fares which are regulated, for example season tickets, have a cap of 1.9% as to how much they can increase by. Unfortunately, unregulated fares such as off-peak journeys have no inflation cap which means that they are more than likely to increase by at least the average percentage. Passengers are furious, and we don’t blame them! The increase has come at a time when rail performance figures are at an all-time low. The cheek of it…

'Worst commute in years' as 17 stations close and Tube network brought to grinding halt at rush hour

If you were unlucky enough to be travelling through London on Wednesday evening, we’re sure you were aware of the horrific chaos rail passengers encountered. At least 17 central London stations had been shut down and stations such as Kings Cross and Victoria were largely affected. It had been described as one of the worst commutes in 17 years, and we can see why! It was even reported that one women at Kings Cross had slipped and fallen under a train after crowds had rushed to try and catch a late running service. Not only were the crowds irritating, health and safety was largely compromised.
